A restaurant deal promotion aimed at supporting Black-owned restaurants and catering companies in Indianapolis is back.

“Black-owned is not the easiest to find. You can go pretty much to any city and clearly on any main strip, you can find Mexican restaurants, Asian restaurants and white-owned restaurants. We support those all the time, but you basically have to know somebody or ask somebody about a Black restaurant,” said Davenport. “They're just not as visible. I would say it's like a needle in a haystack unless you're in the Black community.

Much of the activity in the Black Dolla Indy’s Facebook group page is consumers helping others find Black chefs, stylists and other professional service providers. “We ask customers a lot of times, ‘Where did you hear about us?” she said. “Sometimes they don't know the name of it. They’ll say, ‘It was on this Facebook group.’ When they say on the Facebook group, we already know who it was.”Black Dolla Indy has extended its brand to spotlight other types of Black-owned businesses.
