A bill that was getting fast-tracked through the state Legislature that seeks to double many contribution limits for elections and remove many pay-to-play donation restrictions in New Jersey stalled on Wednesday. The measure was pulled from consideration in both the state Senate and Assembly as lawmakers gathered for a busy voting session before summer break.

It’s not immediately clear what prompted legislative leaders to pull the legislation, dubbed the Elections Transparency Act, for a vote after it sailed through committee hearings with bipartisan support in recent days.
