New set photos for Beetlejuice 2 reveal that the long-awaited sequel will feature some thematic elements that haven’t been present in a live-action Tim Burton movie since 1994. After 35 years of waiting in development hell, Beetlejuice 2 is finally happening under the helm of original director Tim Burton, with the long-anticipated horror-comedy hitting theaters on September 6, 2024.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT While much of the story and character details for Beetlejuice 2 are still buried six feet underground, set photos from the filming of the movie give glimpses into these secretive elements. The set photos so far have revealed a wedding scene with Jenna Ortega’s Beetlejuice 2 character as the bride, and newer images of the film shooting in Vermont tease the exciting setting of the Tim Burton sequel.
Beetlejuice 2 Is The First Live-Action Tim Burton Movie Since Ed Wood To Be Set Around Halloween Beetlejuice 2’s new set photos from DailyMail.com tease a Halloween setting for the 2024 sequel, as the small New England town is dressed up with Halloween decorations, pumpkins, jack-o'-lanterns, and even a “Happy Halloween” sign on storefronts.
Despite its gothic style and inclusion of various 1950s horror stars, Ed Wood is a comedy-drama biopic that isn’t necessarily a horror movie. Since the original 1988 Beetlejuice movie included no indication of this holiday setting, Beetlejuice 2 is also Tim Burton’s first live-action horror movie to actually take place during Halloween.
Beetlejuice 2's Halloween Setting Makes The Long-Awaited Sequel Way More Exciting As more details regarding the sequel are revealed, the more exciting Beetlejuice 2 becomes. From the incredible look of Winona Ryder returning as Lydia Deetz to Jenna Ortega’s character riding a bike through the Halloween-decorated town, Beetlejuice 2 is shaping up to be the most nostalgic and effective use of Tim Burton’s style in his movies since the 2000s.
