Astros insider: Houston searching for consistency in all facets

For the second time in a three-game series, Rangers manager Bruce Bochy summoned lefty reliever Will Smith to face Astros menace Yordan Alvarez at a critical juncture.

The Astros lost a home series to the Rangers for the first time in nearly five years and missed a chance to get their record back to .500 for the first time since April 2. Houston is 7-9 this season, two and a half games back from American League West leader Texas. In three games against the Rangers, the Astros were outscored 17-11 and had more errors than they did hits with runners in scoring position .

Abreu, who is in an 0-for-13 funk offensively, lapsed on defense as well. He failed to scoop Jeremy Peña’s throw in the seventh inning which continued a string of Rangers action on the bases, and in the eighth committed an error that preceded another Rangers onslaught.

Whoever wrote this obviously isn't a long time Astros fan.
