A study finds that atopic dermatitis in early childhood is linked to a higher risk of developing inflammatory bowel disease later in life. However, other atopic manifestations are not associated with IBD. The study analyzed data from two cohort studies involving over 83,000 children and found that 301 participants were diagnosed with IBD. The findings suggest a potential connection between AD and IBD.
