Coronavirus testing in the U.S. has not kept up with demand. NPR's Noel King talks to Raymond Embry, who runs one of the largest coronavirus testing sites in Arizona, about why that is.

Morning Edition

that while the additional testing is necessary, he was surprised when he found out about the plan. He says he's received little support from the state since his clinic started testing in March. "Where are all those materials coming from? Because I've been told absolutely, unequivocally that there is no additional personal protective equipment or supplies available at the state or county level so where is it coming from?" he said.On what went through his mind in early June when he saw the first spikes in positive testing

I'm not going to travel in July. Sorry, obviously I was horrified, but before that I thought our COVID-19 testing operation was going to be put out of business. And that would have been a good thing, this probably would have been the first time that a business closure would have been a good thing. That means that we were no longer needed. And when I saw that it really, it was, 'Oh my God. Nobody is prepared for this. There's no way that we're going to stop testing for COVID-19.

I guess this is what the best testing in the world looks like, the best testing, fabulous testing

In Texas, my wife was tested, in and out of a drive through in less that 30 minutes, results by text within the hour. People were amazingly great, informative nice.

This a thousand times over

Trump and Republican Governors are ordering refrigerated vans in order to store the overflow of dead bodies due to covrd rather than ordering citizens to wear the masks in order to reduce the incidence of death. It less disturbing for them to watch people die than lead.

I heard this interview on the way to work. I asked my leadership team for help and we were able to provide the center with masks, hand sanitizer and gloves. Thanks steuart_scott TempeAZF1 DaveBen75841392 at “The Guad”🧡!

We are also waiting in FL.

Why are people even getting tested? To be told to stay home and rest and recover? Makes zero sense.

npr is such fake news. here.. learn what real reporting is. These jackasses shot an innocent person. These protesters must be taken off the street. 1A does not include violence

Speed up!

Awaiting results in Denton County TX. Was told it would take 5-7 days. I would really like to return to work quickly because I already feel better after a couple days of mild fever, but I don’t feel safe doing that without knowing my test result.

Instant results would be ever so much more frightening.

Imagine having to drive somewhere to see if you’re actually sick? Idiots.

On day 9 waiting for mine in Florida. I feel like if they come back negative, I should just turn around and have another one done immediately the way we’re up to almost 11,000 a day.

California is restricting testing to those with probable cause as the testing sites have been overwhelmed with the 'just curious'.

Yep, one person said it took 2 weeks to get results. Basically worthless. Pretty sure we’re just fucking with data over here in Arizona, inflating testing numbers so the number of cases/deaths looks better.

My son was tested 2 1/2 weeks ago and still no results! In Douglas County, Oregon...ridiculous!!

I had my daughter tested 7/7. It is now 7/18 with no results. By the time we get results we will have quarantined our 14 days... so really what’s the point? Btw, she’s fine. Her fever broke over a week ago so she’s free to enter the world. The rest of us are still stick at home.

What’s the point of testing if it also means you have been exposed to flu!!!? This is all bullsh*t. Just stay home and don’t go out unless for necessities for another year. Hair cut is not a necessity.

Where did Rwanda get their hours-long tests? Still waiting for The Most Advanced Healthcare System In The World to kick in, America? You paid enough for it.

In Texas, I have waited 8 days and counting to get results.....I was told by Lab Corp it will probably get the results on day 10 . This is not helpful to prevent the spread. The rest of my family received negative results so I have that.

Symptomatic daughter just got tested this morning - they said 7-10 days wait. What is the rest of the family supposed to do in the meantime?

It took me 12 days in Arizona and I've been sick for 3 weeks as of tomorrow. I'm grateful to God that I didn't take the turn many people do. Now my Doc says they want my antibodies bc, even with Lupus, I wasn't worse.

Quit the protesting about masks.

It’s a joke that the federal government didn’t require manufacturers to ramp up testing and PPE almost immediately. It’s total incompetency

I had a friend wait 9 days in Nebraska through testnebraska. My bf just waited 3.5 this week. I need a negative to go back to work and the place I originally tested at shut down testing.

Another example of the inadequate response by the federal government and the Trump administration to this crisis.

I got mine in 3 days in early May. They should have prepared for this. When the N.Y. governor told his fellow governors in March and April that this would happen in their states and to get ready, they kept telling him that “we aren’t NY”. Well, yes we are.

It takes 7 days for the average citizen but only a few minutes for the White House. How come?

Simple answer, election year.

Red States, is it still a hoax?

The number of confirmed cases we saw on TV is truly 7 days behind the reality then.

If an individual is awaiting test results, they should be quarantining until they get them.

The red states believed it was a hoax anyway. Fuck testing them.

Took test in PA a week ago. Still no results

A month ago it was taking 5(!!!) days to get results in az. Not worth waiting in the lines.
