If you naturally go to sleep around 8 p.m. and wake up around 4 a.m., you have what's called an advanced sleep phase, and there are more of you than previously thought.

FRIDAY, Aug. 16, 2019 -- Early to bed and early to rise? In its extreme form, this tendency is more common than previously believed, according to a new study.phase. It was believed to be rare, but this study concluded that it may affect at least one in 300 adults.

Advanced sleep is not the same as early rising that develops with normal aging, or the waking in the early hours linked to"While most people struggle with getting out of bed at 4 or 5 a.m., people with advanced sleep phase wake up naturally at this time, rested and ready to take on the day," Ptacek said in a university news release.

In order to determine the prevalence of advanced sleepers, the researchers analyzed data from more than 2,400 patients at aclinic. Of those, 0.03% were determined to be advanced sleepers. This is a conservative estimate, the study authors explained, because it did not include patients who didn't want to participate in the study or advanced sleepers who had no need to attend a sleep clinic.

If I sleep this early I wake up around 1pm because I get sleep paralysis

True but can’t do this unless to solve a problem .

My dad and I both are early to bed early to risers, generally 3:30am

Ughhh... for many high school teachers this is the norm. Many of us start between 7am as and 730am and have morning responsibilities so we have to get up.

There are many benefits to the 'early to bed, early to rise' way of life.

My 24 year old son developed this after TBI/Stroke. Neurologists have tried various therapies to extend his wake up time but it hasn’t helped.
