dropped last month, it has monopolized virtually every hair-related conversation I've had. And why shouldn't it? It's one of the most innovative, advanced hair tools, like, ever. It features multiple attachments for various uses and, perhaps most notably, allows you to curl your hair with air and minimal heat instead of wrapping it around a scalding-hot piece of metal the way we've all submitted to for decades.
, but even if you can, it's sold out and back-ordered at numerous retailers. Luckily, a clever viral hack means you don't have to wait to curl your hair with air.that was publicly posted to a Malaysian Facebook profile, in which a woman puts a section of her long hair in an empty plastic water bottle, then uses a hair dryer to blow around the section of hair through a hole in the side of the water bottle.
Now more people are trying this trick, including South Florida stylist Olivia Smalley, who shared a video of her attempt with her nearly 140,000 Instagram followers. In the sped-up footage, she stuffs a section of her straight blonde hair into an empty water bottle. Then she inserts the concentrator on her Babyliss dryer into the hole she cut in the bottle, and you can see her hair spin behind the Nestle Pure Life label.
Smalley's video inspired others to post their attempts at what Smalley is calling the #blowthebottlechallenge. In the caption of her video, North Carolina stylist Jezabel Lebatard wrote, "a few failed attempts getting the blow dryer placed just right but I was SHOOK at how well it worked 🙌🏽And to think about all the hard work I’ve put into my blow drying skills.
While many people are calling this trick a makeshift Dyson Airwrap, it's worth pointing out that what it. In case it's not seared in your memory like it is in mine, the Air Curler is a big, pink, plastic cup with a rubber nozzle into which you insert your hair dryer. It uses what the manufacturer calls "vortex technology" to whip your hair around in the cup, resulting in bouncy curls not unlike the ones the bottle hack creates.
