Así como esta travesía espacial, surgieron más vivencias que sembraron en Almeida una pasión por la astronomía y la naturaleza. Y es que, desde que su familia se trasladó en 1989 de Ecuador al sur de Florida, las ciencias espaciales comenzaron a formar parte de su vida. Esta carrera le permitía a Almeida, el primero de su familia en obtener un grado académico, contar y compartir historias científicas a la vez que educaba e introducía a otras personas en las ciencias.

Ahora, tras siete años trabajando en la agencia, Almeida labora como estratega de contenido digital, encargándose de manejar las cuentas principales de las redes sociales de la NASA y de crear estrategias para promover las misiones de la agencia.Para que Almeida lleve a cabo su labor, es necesario que esté al tanto de las tendencias y conversaciones en las redes sociales y en la prensa.
