But every once in a while, the celebs come through and actually deliver memorable moments like Anya Taylor-Joy in a sweeping Christian Dior gown or basically anything that Billy Porter wears. Still, it just might be something that could easily fly under the radar unless you keep your eyes peeled … like Issa Rae’s icy grillz.
Like a little kid proudly showing her classmates that she lost her first tooth, Rae showed off her accessory. The grillz are made of 22-karat white gold and diamonds from Grillz by Scotty, who has made sets for Slick Woods, Jesse Williams, and … uh, Torey Lanez. Anyway! Rae is nominated in two categories at the 2021 Emmy Awards: Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series and for her work as executive producer of A Black Lady Sketch Show, which is nominated for Outstanding Variety Sketch Series.
For the occasion, the Insecure actress channeled Studio 54 in a custom Aliétte gown — designed and styled by Jason Rembert — made of crystal mesh and paired with Fernando Jorge earrings. And although she was dripping in diamonds, her shimmery purple eyeshadow look was only $3.
