Analysis: Rep. Chip Roy proves the minority party can still upend the House of Representatives

By JM Rieger JM Rieger Video editor for The Fix Email Bio Follow May 24 at 2:45 PM Rep. Chip Roy on Friday demonstrated the power that minority party members still have in the House of Representatives.

Roy said opposes the bill because it would add to the national debt and does not include $4.4 billion in additional spending for federal operations along the U.S.-Mexico border that Trump previously had requested. The White House dropped that request to allow the bill to move forward. Objecting to unanimous consent requests for legislation with broad bipartisan support after most members have left town is nothing new, but it often occurs in the Senate where the process is often more drawn out.

GOP conservative temporarily blocks $19B disaster billA House GOP conservative complaining of Washington&39;s free-spending and opaque ways blocked a long-overdue $19 billion disaster aid bill on Friday, extending a tempest over hurricane and flood relief that has left the measure meandering for months. Texas Republican Chip Roy, a former aide to Texas Wait he is asking for fiscal responsibility and restraint AND funds for the archaic wall? Does irony exist in conservative minds? chiproytx is concerned about where the money is coming from for this disaster relief but he says nothing about Trump’s unilateral decision to spend $28 billion to bail out farmers hurt by his trade war? Analysis | This House Republican’s lonely road on impeachment shows how tribal our politics have becomeBelieve it or not, the last time Congress considered impeaching a president, lawmakers of his own party voted for it. the eye of the Kremlin never sleeps Not tribal. Unpatriotic. Even more so it shows how brainwashed Trump's base is even in the face of overwhelming evidence they ignore the report and continue supporting trump or worse, this outcome is exactly what they hoped for.
