A couple of decades later, in 1983, brothers Jimmy and Herby Greenhaw -- along with Jimmy’s wife, Kitty – went into business together and bought both Dub’s Burgers locations from their Uncle Dub. “All the plates, cups and silverware had to be washed by hand, so that’s where we came in,” Lanier remembers. “We washed a ton of dishes down there when we were younger.”
They approached Lanier, who had started a moving company after he graduated from Athens High School, about buying Dub’s and keeping it in the family. He had told them no before, but this time he said yes.
If you’re ever traveling I-65, it’s worth a stop for a Dub’s Burger!
