Joe Arpaio, the former sheriff of Arizona's largest county who built a national reputation as a staunch opponent of illegal immigration and found a powerful ally in President Donald Trump, is seeking to win his old job in Tuesday's Republican primary.

PHOENIX - Joe Arpaio, the former sheriff of Arizona’s largest county who built a national reputation as a staunch opponent of illegal immigration and found a powerful ally in President Donald Trump, is seeking to win his old job in Tuesday’s Republican primary.

Arpaio, who lost his bid in 2016 for re-election as sheriff of Maricopa County, which includes Phoenix, after 24 years in office, was damaged by a series of court judgments that left local taxpayers on the hook for $146 million. Arpaio is vowing to continue the policing practices that made him a controversial figure in Arizona and beyond.

How about, 'America's Most Racist and Violent Sheriff' shouldn't be allowed to run again after he was convicted of criminal contempt even though our racist POTUS pardoned him.

Pardoned felon

🤮

Hey Reuters you spelled “racist” wrong.

He's a racist felon and you're apparently on the team.

More like former racist sheriff

why would you use this criminal’s own branding for free in your headline

Maybe we should question the moniker of ‘America’s Toughest Sheriff if’? Maybe ‘America’s most Racist Sheriff’ is more appropriate? Stop pushing that bullshit narrative about this asshole.

'Toughest'? Does that mean 'most criminal'? Not sure that's the sheriff I want. wordsmatter

You spelled racist felon wrong

Why are you repeating a felon's propaganda?

Delete this right now

Wait, why doesn't he have his old job? I guess we'll never know.

Do better Reuters....

Why this headline? Why not be truthful? Here: 'Racist Sheriff who was found guilty of criminal contempt of court for refusing to stop racially profiling and illegally detaining Latinos, many of whom were US citizens or legal residents, tries to get his job back.'

by 'tough', do you mean racist criminal?

America's Criminal Sheriff faces a tough race to win old job back for rather obvious reasons.

Shit headline Reuters. Smarten Up

Jesus christ, Reuters. Like, what the fuck is this headline?

Stop calling this fool 'tough'. He's a disgusting old racist. Period.

Delete this tweet

CyrusToulabi This tweet is GarbageJournalism. How dare you normalize this domestic terrorist? Shame on you.

Don't use that headline. That's gross. Hes a racist criminal who got pardoned by a racist moron in the white house. He need to lose in a landslide.

After narrowly avoiding prison, notorious racist faces tough race to win old job back.

Only job he should have is picking up trash on the highway. Fuck that racist POS

This is me a 68yo calling him, at 88, a fossil that needs to be in a museum - not heading a policing force using methods that should've gone out of date decades ago.

if you're going to use his words, you should go with 'concentration camp'

“Toughest”!! He is an unrepentant racist murderer, but you make him sound admirable. Shameful.

You spelled convicted felon wrong.

ICYMI Felon joearpaio detained Americans, withheld their i.d.'s, prevented them from contacting family, friends, or lawyers, then forced them to prove they were American citizens, merely because of their ethnic origins. He is a racist criminal that violated people's rights

Fixed it: Convicted felon wants former job to commit more crimes.

“America’s Most Racist Sheriff “ “Vicious Criminal Against Humanity” “Irredeemable Human Trash” “America’s Greatest Monster” Pick one but stop making this turd into a hero.

Shameful headline 🙄

That’s an awfully generous headline for somebody who should be in prison.

He sent me an email once asking for money to fight Obama and mexican migrants. I live in Argentina.

This ain’t it. The judges would have accepted “Felon Runs Again” or even “Disgraced Former Sheriff Runs Again.”

When you unironically parrot the language of the fringe right, you automatically become an agent of white supremacy, delete this tweet

‘America’s Guiltiest Sheriff’ is a better title.

toughest?

'America's Most Famous Criminal Sheriff'

Did the Russians tell you to write that headline? 😳

Fuck Joe Arpaio

you could have gone with 'one of america's loudest nazis, with a proven track record of ruining people's lives and making everything worse'

Is it considered 'tough' to deliberately KILL innocent dogs while conducting police business? I think that might definitely be considered OVERKILL.

Are you fucking serious?!?!

Reuters. You lost brand equity today with this. The guy is a convicted felon.

He’s an elderly racist who was convicted of racial profiling and accepted a pardon that kept him out of jail but confirmed his guilt. He tortured and racially profiled people. Tell the whole truth.

This man was convicted of serious crimes, credibly accused of worse, and committed innumerable brutal and inhumane, yet legal, acts. GTFO with this.

CyrusToulabi FixedIt 'America's RACIST Sheriff' faces tough race to win old job back so he can continue to target harass and murder minorities.

Shouldn't he be in prison?

I thought he was dead

He’s a pardoned criminal who was unable to serve in law enforcement without breaking the law. He discriminates against brown people and tortures immigrants in his custody. Why on earth wouldn’t that be the headline here?

holy fuck what is wrong with you

'Former convict runs for former position he held while committing crimes'

How is it he can run for sheriff, but despite being pardoned by the orange turd, he's still a convicted felon, that cannot be removed, and he won't be allowed to carry a gun... law and order, right ?

How much did he pay you for this?

He's not tough. He's a racist coward.

Let's maybe go with option 2 for that headline.

He's a convicted felon who ran concentration camps. Try just a little bit to be journalists!

Did Joe Arpaio write this?

“America’s most corrupt sheriff” would have been a more accurate headline.

He is a criminal. He should be in jail.

Reuters ran this headline because...

Do better

Reuters published this disgusting fluff article to help the racist assh*le in his reelection campaign. WTF is wrong with the folks at reuters?

24% suicide rate in jails he ran. 1 out of 4. Tens of millions of tax payer dollars paid out in wrongful death settlements. You lie to your readers.

He ran concentration camps.

America’s most disgraced Sheriff

Reuters really drops the ball on this article about the racist assh*le former sheriff

What the fuck? Delete this headline. He was proud of having concentration camps and convicted of abusing his position to maintain power

“found guilty of criminal contempt of court in ‘17 by a federal judge. he willfully violated a ‘11 order barring stopping & detaining Latino motorists solely on suspicion that they were in the country illegally. Trump pardoned Arpaio the 1st pardon of his presidency” 😳

Are y’all journalists or not?

Good riddance to bad garbage headlines. How about “America’s most racist, pardoned, would-be tough guy.” Shameful. How do you expect anyone to take your reporting seriously?

He's a convicted criminal

Correction please: 'America's most RACIST Sheriff'

“Toughest Sheriff” This guy murdered a dog in front of its’ owner, bc that owner was Hispanic. He is not tough. He’s a pussy.

'America's Criminal Sheriff'

I wouldn’t let that creep on my property!

Lazy, piss-poor reporting.

What the ever living fuck is this headline?

Do better

Someone on staff got downright LAZY with this headline for this racist POS — “Shell of a human being veers out of his crooked lane only to be disappointed when he LOSES”

The felon who set up concentration camps for brown people? My god you need new writers.

Who wrote that headline? ... 🤦🏻‍♀️

Isn’t he a criminal?

'America's Most Racist Sheriff' faces a tough race to win the old job back. Joe Arpaio engaged in a widespread pattern or practice of law enforcement and jail activities that discriminated against Latinos.' I fixed the tone-deaf headline for you.

I think you mean “disgraced former sheriff.”

What the fuck

Fuck you Quit being part of the goddamned problem and do your jobs. He's running for sheriff. In charge of enforcing laws. He's a convicted felon. THAT'S the headline. 'Convicted felon' faces tough race to win old job back.

Correction. Convicted felon. When you accept a pardon you admit your guilt

Convicted felon, notorious bigot. You are terrible at your job.

Reuters a Russian propaganda tool

This headline is gross. This guy is guilty of human rights abuses.

You mean the one that should be in jail?

This is shameful and you should correct... he’s a criminal

Convicted racist Ex-sheriff pardoned by Trump tries to get re-elected

Delete your account.

Wtf with that headline

You f*credit that up . Headline fail

This headline is trash. Do better

I didn't know criminals could run for sheriff.

Most racist, among other things...

Oh. Also, he’s a racist and a convicted felon.

“Convicted Ex-Sheriff tries to win old job back”.

You gotta know when to fold'em, know when to hold 'em.

America's what

Big difference between tough and fair and cruel and corrupt. BIG DIFFERENCE. People actually KNOW this.

Time to say Goodbye!

Reuters then gives him free press to help out

I love when racists run for office and FAIL HORRIBLY
