“There are no words to convey my shock and sadness regarding the tragic accident that took the life of Halyna Hutchins,” Alec Baldwin tweeted Friday. Authorities say he fired a prop gun on a movie set that killed Hutchins and injured the film’s director.

Gun safety protocol on sets in the United States has dramatically improved since then, said Steven Hall, a veteran director of photography in Britain. But he said one of the riskiest positions to be in is operating the camera — noting that person would be in the line of fire in gripping scenes where someone appears points a gun at the audience.

“This investigation remains open and active,” Rios said in a statement. “No charges have been filed in regard to this incident. Witnesses continue to be interviewed by detectives.” Manganiello called Hutchins “an incredible talent” and “a great person” on his Instagram account. He said he was lucky to have worked with her.

Production was halted on “Rust.” The movie is about a 13-year-old boy who is left to fend for himself and his younger brother following the death of their parents in 1880s’ Kansas, according to the Internet Movie Database website. The teen goes on the run with his long-estranged grandfather after the boy is sentenced to hang for the accidental killing of a local rancher.

A lot of people arguing with authority here about what happened and not 1 of them were fucking there.

Does health and safety work alongside special effects team, why don't they just audio dub the sound in post production, shocking tragedy for all concerned

If he doesn't go to jail for involuntary manslaughter, there is no justice in this world.

Prop guns are incapable of firing anything. Therefore, Alec Baldwin could not have killed anyone with a prop gun - unless he bludgeoned someone to death with one.

Sad and Tragic !!

What someone needs to explain is how a western period gun discharges accidentally twice. It has to be cocked between shots.

Manslaughter

I'm going to just ask it. Why would anyone point a gun...loaded or otherwise, at a camera person and a director. They were not actors. It was obviously not intentional. But it was something.

I feel so terrible for everyone involved. Words can’t do justice to tragedy *HUG*

This is so horrible. BUT, WHY was there a loaded gun on a movie set

This is horrific. What a shame. If I recall correctly didn’t Brandon Lee died similarly? Ugh - I can’t even imagine what the families of the deceased and injured are going through or how guilty Mr Baldwin feels.

You are the tragic accident that took her life... what the?!?!?

How do you say “fucked”

Wut?

It's his fault.

Wow so everyone is a complete scum bag in comments.....wonderful world we live in

There is something ironic about a photo of Mr. Baldwin clutching a mask, immediately after he was reckless with a firearm...

There's no reason to have a working firearm on a movie or TV show set. Maybe this will change that.

what's a prop gun that kills people?

Cinematographer Halyna Hutchins Dies at 42 After Prop Gun Incident on Alec Baldwin FilmThe Ukrainian-born, Los Angeles-based director of photography's credits include the indie films 'Archenemy,' 'Blindfire' and 'The Mad Hatter.' Many in the industry are saying the gun was not a prop by definition.. and that it was a real gun with planks 👀 This should have been avoided and could have been which is very frustrating. My prayers go out to her friends and family. No more realistic guns with real looking gunfire shots from blanks on set. It doesn't have to look 100% real, just make it look real enough with a dummy airsoft gun with vfx for the gunfire, safety is far more important than absolute realism. Rest In Peace
