Mules senior Connor Foote broke two meet records and won two gold medals at 5A state...

regained a record he set a day earlier and broke another of his own records in addition to winning two gold medals and a bronze at the UIL state swimming and diving championships held Saturday at the Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center.

“I came in this meet wanting to hit 19 because that’s just a big goal I’ve had this whole season,” Foote said. “I saw state record get broken this morning, and I was like, ‘Man, now I really want it,’ and so I came back and went 19.” “I wanted to get as close as I could to the national record in the 100 fly and beat the state record,” said Foote, who was USA Today’s Swimmer of the Year in Texas last year. “I broke the state record, and it was really nice getting close .”This year, Foote skipped the 100 freestyle — an event he won in 2021 and 2020 at state — to go for a state record in the 100 butterfly.

Foote finished his four-year varsity career with six gold medals, one silver and one bronze. As freshman, he qualified for state and was 16th in the 100 backstroke and 20th in the 100 freestyle.

Two Penn swimmers named Ivy champions, with Lia Thomas breaking meet and second pool recordPenn sophomore Catherine Buroker won the 1,000-yard freestyle, while senior Lia Thomas came first in the 200-yard free, breaking an Ivy meet and pool record. To all my republicans friends who are upset by this. Who cares. Ivy League swimming is liberal country. Let them rob their fellow liberal females from fair competition. It's kind of funny to watch Well, Lia is a “his” and not a “her” and stole some other “her’s” dream. This is madness. Setting women’s sports back. Shameful
