Canandaigua, N.Y. — A convicted rapist was sentenced Wednesday morning during an emotional day in Ontario County Court.
Jeffrey Kuney is set to serve 20 years in prison for his crimes, and the woman he was convicted of raping shared her story at his sentencing. Ontario County Assistant District Attorney Victoria Porter says the area is safer now that Kuney is behind bars. "We are really happy that the judge saw him for what he really is, which is a predator to women," Porter said.
Kuney was convicted of first- and third-degree rape for assaulting a woman at his former home on Brickyard Road in Canandaigua in October of 2021. In court on Wednesday, the victim called Kuney a "predatory monster" who plans actions on women without having any remorse.Prosecutors say this case was severed from a larger indictment involving multiple charges against Kuney, which include rape and criminal sex act stemming from at least two separate incidents.
