A repeat offender accused of committing yet another crime appeared before a judge in Thurston County on Thursday.

The sheriff’s office said the man driving the truck had active warrants and fled from deputies after he lied about his name during a traffic stop. through Lacey and onto trails before wrecking the truck he was driving into a trailer. Deputies at the time suspected him of DUI.

The prosecution spoke before Thurston County Judge Sharonda Amamilo and requested he be held on $40,000 bail for the pursuit.Attorney Daniel Scida, with the Thurston County Prosecutor's Office, said “ was driving at 70 miles an hour on a pedestrian trail. That’s the Western Chehalis trail on which there were pedestrians walking their dogs, and riding their bikes. Your honor, 70 miles an hour that is an obscene speed.

Ultimately, Amamilo agreed with the prosecution and imposed $40,000 bail. But the court was not yet over.
