Cleveland Police shut down a portion of Interstate 90 Monday afternoon for a crash involving a garbage truck and another vehicle that left a 7-year-old and 16-year-old dead.Authorities said the road will be closed in that area until further notice. Police are asking motorists to avoid the area if possible. By 3:35 p.m., Cleveland Police had the garbage truck towed from the scene, but traffic was still being redirected.
A News 5 photographer at the scene said another vehicle could be seen under the front end of a Kimble garbage truck. The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner's Office confirmed that investigators have been called to the scene. Cleveland EMS later confirmed the two fatalities. It's unclear what caused the crash or if anyone else was injured.This story will be updated as more information becomes available.
