68% of Americans now say the pandemic is getting worse

Some 68% of people surveyed in the U.S. in August said that the pandemic is worsening, compared to just 3% of people in June.

Nearly seven in 10 people in August said they had worn masks or avoided crowds in the previous week, an increase from six in 10 in July, while the share of people who avoided mass transit increased four percentage points to 41%.39%. That’s how many people surveyed are afraid of getting Covid-19, according to Gallup, after hitting a pandemic low of 17% in June.
