Escape Stressful Times...in the Great Depression?TV series, novels, movies and videogames are mining the 1930s for stories and characters, from the Perry Mason reboot to new novels from Kristin Hannah and Christina Schwarz, to director Guillermo del Toro’s pending thriller. Only thing we care about now...is where is Patrick McMullan? So, these 'creative' people are unable to think of original material, and must look to the creative endeavors of other people to have anything to offer. I wanted to like the new Perry Mason. I watched the first two episodes. It sucks. It's Perry Mason In Name Only. He's not a lawyer, but a two-bit private eye in 1930s LA. It's copying films like China Town and Mulholand Drive but it's nowhere near as good. It's sad.
