TV series and novels return to the 1930s for stories and characters reflecting a harder, tougher AmericaAs a barrage of economic forecasts veer between overnight recovery and meltdown, several coming novels, TV series, films and videogames are offering escape by holding up a mirror to the financial trauma of the early 1930s.

The Great Depression underpins HBO’s “Perry Mason” reboot and, more indirectly, a new series adaptation of Aldous Huxley’s classic science fiction novel “Brave New World” premiering on NBCUniversal’s Peacock streaming platform on July 15.

I wanted to like the new Perry Mason. I watched the first two episodes. It sucks. It's Perry Mason In Name Only. He's not a lawyer, but a two-bit private eye in 1930s LA. It's copying films like China Town and Mulholand Drive but it's nowhere near as good. It's sad.

So, these 'creative' people are unable to think of original material, and must look to the creative endeavors of other people to have anything to offer.

Only thing we care about now...is where is Patrick McMullan?
