"The bosses call and say you are doing this," said Brad Barbin, Murnane's attorney, "he should've said no, he didn't that's why he is pleading guilty." Former CEO Tom Stalf, former Chief Financial Officer Greg Bell, and former Director of Marketing Pete Fingerhut were indicted last year in connection with an alleged $2.29 million dollar theft of zoo funds.

Bell pleaded guilty in October to 12 counts of tampering with records, one count of conspiracy to engage in a pattern of corrupt activity, and one count of aggravated theft, all felonies. He will be sentenced at a later date.Barbin says Murnane's case is related but not connected to the cases of the three former executive officers."He's going to be an important witness," said Barbin, " what did they say, what did they do, when did it happen.
