by Stephanie Duprey, WSYX StaffA man died during a shootout with Columbus police officers in Canal Winchester on May 16, 2024. BCI is investigating a deadly shooting involving another Columbus police officer from early Thursday morning near Canal Winchester.CPD says it doesn’t know whether the victim died from an officer's bullet, or his own. According to the records police gave us, Rafael Warfield turned 21-years-old the day of this shooting.
As police got on scene, body cam video shows them surrounding the area. We're still working with investigators to figure out if this was Warfield's home, or his family's home. Bryant says that information originally given to media relations was "given out in haste" in an attempt to try to give something to the media.
