The San Antonio Food Bank and Northside Independent School District have reached a milestone in their partnership to assist needy South Texas families. Friday's mega-distribution at Gustafson Stadium marked the 100th such event the nonprofit has held at the Northside ISD sports complex since the start of the pandemic in March 2020. Since then, more than 100,000 households have collected an estimated 10 million pounds of free groceries during distributions at the stadium.
Ten thousand families showed up at S.A. Food Bank in a single day 'It's a tremendous partnership that has been forged through the years,' Northside Superintendent John Craft said. 'It's unfortunate there is such a need in our community, but we couldn't be more proud.' On Friday, 275 volunteers served 1,205 families, food bank officials said.
