One person is dead and two others were taken to the hospital after a residential fire early Friday morning in Anchorage’s Mountain View neighborhood, according to a fire official.

The Anchorage Fire Department was dispatched to the 200 block of North Hoyt Street at 2:19 a.m. Friday, said Assistant Fire Chief Alex Boyd. When firefighters arrived at 2:33 a.m., a single-family residence was ablaze with three people inside, Boyd said. One person was pronounced dead at the scene and two others were taken to the hospital in unknown condition.

There were a total 16 units dispatched to the scene, and Boyd estimated that most of the fire action was completed by around 2:40 a.m. Investigators are still working to determine what caused the fire, and they remained at the scene as of late Friday morning, Boyd said.
