Education secretary says admissions should be based on merit and focus should be on improving schools

The education secretary has pushed back against the idea elite universities such as Oxford and Cambridge should “tilt the system” to accept more pupils from state schools.

Curr is now knowledged based: fit for the 19th not 21st cent. Once Primary schools had cookers and playing fields. Cooking was an integral part of a Skills based curr, as were pretend shops and money. A third of all pupils now leave with nothing. It's a system based on Failure.

Perish the thought, not enough spaces for rich people's kids if they do that, anyone would think this was an actual meritocracy

Of course he does. That would be an existential threat to the lynchpin of a system that has fooled the gullible into believing that an unregulated oligarchy with a ghost,'constitution' and an elected dictatorship cum rigged electoral system is somehow a democracy. Risible.
