Worcestershire spinner Josh Baker has died Worcestershire have announced the death of spin bowler Josh Baker at the age of 20. Baker had made two appearances in this year’s County Championship, including Worcestershire’s 185-run defeat to Durham in Kidderminster only last month. The Redditch-born youngster made his first-class debut for Worcestershire in July 2021 and went on to play 20 matches for the county, taking 39 wickets.
‘The news of Josh’s passing has left us all devastated,’ Worcestershire chief executive Ashley Giles said in a brief statement. ‘Josh was much more than a team-mate; he was an integral part of our cricket family. ‘We will all miss him terribly. All our love and prayers go out to Josh’s family and friends.
