Woman taken to hospital after A52 crash that closed road

A woman has been taken to hospital after a crash on the A52 in Nottinghamshire that resulted in a four-hour closure. Two vehicles were involved in a collision on the busy A-road at around 10.40am on Thursday, June 5.

The woman's injuries are not currently believed to be life-threatening, Nottinghamshire Police said. Road closures were in place in both directions between Gamston and Wheatcrofts Island, before being lifted at around 3pm. Sergeant Craig Luckett, of Nottinghamshire Roads Policing Unit, said: “We are still in the process of investigating how this collision came about, so would ask anyone who saw what happened or that may have any dash cam footage to contact us. Any information can be reported to the police by calling 101, quoting incident 218 of 6 June 2024, or to Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

National Highways first shared the news on social media site X, formerly known as Twitter. In its post, the highways agency said: "The #A52 in #Nottinghamshire is CLOSED in both directions between the #A6011 near #Gamston and #A606 near #Wheatcroft due to a multi-vehicle collision. "Emergency services are on scene." Traffic cameras near the crash showed it has caused a long queue of vehicles on the road.
