An air ambulance and fire crews were called to assist a woman who had "impaled her hand on a railing".
The Fire and Rescue Service confirmed they had attended an incident on Derby Road in Southport last night . Crews responded to an emergency call at 5.50pm and the search and rescue team arrived five minutes later . In addition, the North West Ambulance Service and the Air Ambulance attended and assessed the casualty before taking her to hospital by road for further treatment. Police were also in attendance.Merseyside Police confirmed the incident was "was ambulance-led and was a medical issue".
A spokesperson for the fire service told the ECHO: "This attendance was in response to a member of the public having impaled their hand on a railing. The casualty who was conscious and breathing, self-released from the railing and crews provided first aid and oxygen."
