Lockdown rules are changing across the UK — we look at who is responsible for enforcing them

Pubs, restaurants, hotels and hair salons can now open in England - but they could still be forced to close. The Health and Safety Executive oversees laws and guidance on a safe working environment. Like the police, it can enforce the law if it believes there is a danger - for instance in an overcrowded factory. When it comes to pubs, the police are likely to be the first to hear about an overcrowded pub. Many forces have been carrying out spot checks.

Businesses that are open must be able to show they have plans to reduce the risk of transmission - for instance by creating one-way systems around their premises. If a premises was the source of an outbreak, local public health directors can close it while the virus is tackled. This is a long-standing power that has been used to contain other diseases.

I think it’s fair to say no one has a fucking clue what the rules are anymore

Nobody has been enforcing them so far.

David Shukman?

They can decide that this isnt why they joined the force and that stopping real crime is more important.

Better question. Why would police want to do anything about Covid law breakers? The government can’t open pubs on one hand but tell people there’s still a danger on the other.

Rules? Sorry. Just acting upon my fatherly instinct to give my family the best quality of life I can, and keep them safe.. Or whatever bollocks the elite use to wriggle out of accountability.

you can only enforce the law.

BBCPolitics We are having a bonfire this weekend

Have they been enforced until now I think not.

What lockdown?

I suppose if you get confused by any of this just say your name is Dominic Cummings

Who's responsible for enforcing them?; we are. There is no cure (even if they make a vaccine). Keeping you safe; your family and friends is 'your' responsibility (as is theirs). You may get the police to explain the rules. (forcefully if needed).

Arrest them unless they’re; black... or disabled... or gay..... or poor.... or transsexual.... or protesting.... Actually just arrest white people, don’t want to upset anyone.

They’re useless. They have no mandate to do anything 😤😤

What a shambles. No different to how it's been from day 1. They have got to make it absolutely crystal clear what we can and can't do, otherwise the Police will be in an impossible no win situation ! When things start going wrong Remembe Boris Johnson will be responsible !!!

No one lawless society

Yet we are still banned from entering the US. Thousands of us separated from family and loved ones because of an unwillingness to add exemptions. We don't want to sight see or holiday. We want our families. LiftTheTravelBan LoveIsNotTourism LoveIsEssential DoItLikeDenmark

Do what they did to those who came off the pleasure cruise ships. Put them into isolation rooms where they have no choice but to quarantine! Start getting serious with those who dont. Get discipline back into our country!

No one is enforcing them ! That’s why we are where we are !

what lockdown?

Restrictions getting eased but more people are dying in the hundreds compared to when we went into lockdown. Why is the media downplaying the extent of which the goverment is failing us!?

Why can't people just be responsible for their own actions, or are they that simple? Maybe the police should ensure employers are keeping their employees safe instead.

Lockdown rules have been abandoned as the economy is too screwed. A more accurate headline.

Yawn

Coronavirus: Airborne transmission of COVID-19 cannot be ruled out, says WHOHundreds of scientists say evidence shows some virus particles linger in the air rather than dropping to the floor. Wobbling and fumbling WHO! Airborne transmission of Covid-19 cannot be ruled out!? Is this speculative? Conclusive? A concordance of research? All the above are doubtful. Honestly, WHO is being tossed around by this pandemic. Worse than the bbc for scaremongering if the who have have concrete evidence that shows then make it public for everyone to see if not it's only in close spaces face masks are required we will not be like China walking around with face masks on I don’t know anyone who believes anything the WHO says. Everyday they’re either changing their minds or making something else up 🤦‍♀️
