Weddings will see daughters walk down aisle alone, no singing and hand washing at ring ceremony

DADS won't be able to walk their daughters arm-in-arm down the aisle unless they are from the same household under strict new rules for wedding ceremonies.

Ceremonies must be "concluded in the shortest reasonable time" and only include parts of the marriage that are legally required. And as stated last week, wedding receptions can only be attended by people from a maximum of two different households - effectively banning parties. Laying out the strict rules for exchanging the rings, the document states: "Where the exchanging of rings is required or desired for the solemnisation of the marriage or the formation of the civil partnership, hands should be washed before and after. And on music it says: "People should avoid singing, shouting, raising voices and/or playing music at a volume that makes normal conversation difficult or that may encourage shouting.

Oxford county council said it would only begin a phased approach to reopening wedding venues from September 1. Donations should be collected via contactless devices or online, where possible, or cash should be placed in a receptacle that is set in one place and not passed around.

This is nonsense. But let’s all go wonder around a busy Tesco, or better still let’s go sit in a crowded pub once they re-open. Or spend the day on a beach packed like sardines. Denying a bride a special moment with her father absolutely bloody nonsense.

But he can go on demonstrations every weekend with thousands of strangers. That makes sense.

Completely absurd
