What a find!

A charity shopper is laughing all the way to the bank after picking up a bargain that was actually worth nearly half a million pounds.

It was sold on eBay and caused something of a bidding war, eventually reaching the price of £380,000, plus fees – six times the pre-sale estimate of £80,000. Experts at Sworders Fine Art Auctioneers’ in Stansted Mountfitchet, Essex, discovered it was made for the Qianlong Emperor who was in power from 1735 to 1796.The amazing find was marked with a symbol which meant it was destined for one of the emperor’s palaces. The eight-inch vase is yellow – a colour reserved for the emperor.

She said: ‘The gentleman vendor was in the charity shop and picked out the vase because he liked the look of it.
