UK quarantine plans and £1,000 penalties set out

Plans to force arrivals to the UK to isolate for 14 days have been unveiled by Home Secretary Priti Patel.

She told the Commons that Border Force will check that travellers fill out a form with their contact details and location for isolation on arrival."We will not allow a reckless minority to put our domestic recovery at risk," she said. Ms Patel told MPs that scientific advisers had said quarantine would not have been effective earlier in the pandemic when infection rates in the UK were higher.

But now imported cases of the virus pose a more significant threat, she said, so it is now important to"protect our hard-won progress as we move in the right direction".

this I epicentre not,the people backing from holidays or visitor's (literally every country in the world)tackles the virus 10 times better than UK... and they want NOW protect US to quarantine peoples which comes from abroad 😅🤣🤣😂😂

How will this work! Will people arriving travel using public transport to get to their self isolating destination?

If we have capacity to get test results in 24 hours, why do we need to isolate for 14 days?

Also this quarantine move is very clever. People now forced to stay in UK instead of fueling foreign economy and spend holiday money abroad they will spend money in UK (on services, fuel, goods, taxes etc.)

£1000 fine, so the average person gets heavily penalised yet the wealthy carry on. Why not lock them up for 14 days instead of fines, that way it's fair, as long as you don't allow the wealthy the opportunity to go to court with their barristers.

Is pritipatel still allowing French navy to let hundreds of illegal a week dock in Dover? Open borders for them?

pritipatel likes home arrests, every country in Europe is opening or has opened weeks ago, even Belgium the worst death rate in Europe and what does she come out with? A communist regime decision? Based on fakescience like everything they implemented up until now.

Who’s gonna book a 2 week holiday to quarantine - sounds like an expensive place 🤷‍♂️

Yet the UK has beeen allowing people to travel into the country, unchecked, untested, for the last 3 months and only now they decide to impose an unenforceable quarantine?

Not UK, England - when will the BBC learn the difference ?

A bit late now seeing the virus is more prevalent among people in the UK than most other places.

Absolute madness, that won’t do anything but destroy the travel industry more.

Absolute waste of time.
