The British Museum is to reopen most of its ground-floor galleries on 27 August after being shut for 163 days, its longest peacetime closure, Mark Brown reports. The museum, which first opened its doors in 1759, announced on Friday that it would reopen in time for England’s August bank holiday weekend. It will be one of the last of Britain’s big museums to reopen in a staggered process that began with the National Gallery on 8 July.\nAs at other museums, visitors will need to book a timed slot.

Oh, right... so nothing to do with the increase in people moving homes because **EVICTIONS** start in 2 weeks? Nothing to do with homelessness, ppl moving to shared houses to live in bedrooms or to move with other relatives in crammed homes - many at high risk. genrentuk

Remember folks the R-number is susceptible to fluctuations the lower the overall infections because of localised spikes and increased targeted community testing. Germany had a 1 day spike in the R-rate to 2.7 a few weeks back but the next day it went back down to 0.7

So what? The r number is pretty meaningless especially when cases are so low.
