The chancellor, Rishi Sunak, announced on Friday that the furlough scheme will come to an end at the end of October. From August, businesses will have to pay national insurance and pension contributions, then 10% of salaries in September, rising to 20% in October.\nBut the lack of protections for shielded workers is a “major missing piece” of the furlough scheme, according to Citizens Advice.

This from a man that only 2 wks ago was calling for the Government to open up the hospitality industry? Media attention seeking Andy risking lives. Caught lying trying to deny it. North West of England has the highest level in UK. You cannot trust his judgement.

Burnham, another snake with a smile on his face. Getting his i told you so before anything happens. Funny that other chancer hanger

If lockdown went on for longer and millions lost there jobs homes mental health problems the Government would get the blame I know life is more important but so is people's well being it's very difficult to solve as is mental health which will happen

AndyBurnhamGM Why are Manchester schools having more children return on Monday then?! 🤷🏻‍♀️

AndyBurnhamGM Why are you allowing Manchester schools to open then?

Six people in a garden! Yes let's all go crazy.

AndyBurnhamGM Clearly the strategy is for us all to get it at a steady rate so the NHS can handle it. I heard an account this morning locally that shows they are not. Very worrying

AndyBurnhamGM Credit where it's due though. After a massive mid-week spike they've really flattened the curve. So whilst still in the danger zone the number of Tory lies are heading back to normal levels.

Track and trace is a joke, can not even get off properly. 300+ death each day, bojo the liar disingenuous opening up is truly hapzard. Good luck to all.

yeah but but but........ the economy. They are sending the poor back to work torygenocide

Looting cures the Rona

It's a pandemic with no vaccine. Either we starve to death trying to slow the infection rate, or we accept the reality.

I once thought AndyBurnhamGM was honourable but anyone in high office calling for the continuation of a fascist state should be facing trial in court. People are losing their lives because of disruption to services and others are losing their jobs in the thousands daily.

Is easing lockdowns premature?

There's risk in doing something and doing nothing. It’s a balance, about reducing risk to a practical minimum. As we gain confidence and information, I support those who are not ready for this step yet and those that are. I want to hear concerns, good news, less shouting BeKind

This is a common thread amongst nearly every country trying to lift the quarantines. Second waves and new outbreaks are happening almost immediately. It's too soon. We need a vaccine first.

Yes they’re still happy to have some collateral damage of the inferiors

Agree, Way Too Early !

That number (orange) is up and down like a yo-yo due to the reporting system, while actual deaths follow very consistent trend. Breakdown to help explain how the number the gov't announces each day is calculated (like today's 377) and why it sometimes doesn't quite equal the individual figures reported in the media. 0.26% fatality rate.
