Met Office forecasters say they are watching an incoming weather pattern 'very closely'. Weather warnings are already in place for Storm Ciarán, which is set to bring heavy rain across the UK between Sunday, October 29 and Thursday, November 2.
Latest forecasts suggest gusts could reach as high as 80mph along the south coast, with gusts of 50 to 60mph possible further inland. For Nottingham, the Met Office currently predicts rain will hit Nottingham throughout the next week - with Sunday, November 5, currently the only day without rain forecast.
Moving further into November, temperatures are predicted to fall lower than the average for this time of year - and there is the possibility of heavy winds after the latest storm. In its UK long-range forecast for Friday, November 3 through to Sunday, November 12, the Met Office states: "Storm Ciaran, or the remnants of Ciaran will gradually move away to the east on Friday, although many places will still have a windy day with spells of rain or showers.
"Temperatures will generally be around or a little below average throughout the period, and of course they normally fall at this time of year anyway."
