Trump says US is 'where we want to be' on China trade talks

Image captionUS President Donald Trump said the US is"right where we want to be with China" as both sides remained locked in a bruising trade battle.

The US more than doubled tariffs on $200bn of Chinese goods on Friday, in a sharp escalation of their trade war. Earlier, Mr Trump's top economic adviser, Larry Kudlow, said"both sides will suffer" from the trade dispute."We are right where we want to be with China. Remember, they broke the deal with us & tried to renegotiate," Mr Trump wrote in a post on Twitter.

"We will be taking in tens of billions of dollars in tariffs from China. Buyers of product can make it themselves in the USA , or buy it from non-tariffed countries."We are right where we want to be with China. Remember, they broke the deal with us & tried to renegotiate. We will be taking in Tens of Billions of Dollars in Tariffs from China. Buyers of product can make it themselves in the USA , or buy it from non-Tariffed countries...

China has said it will retaliate but has not announced any details including when it would take action.

the man who's turning the presidency into a soap opera

I'm waiting to see that happening in UK .

I know he DO...Weak and Scared...

'mexico will pay for the wall'...

Trump isn't defiant, you Economic illiterates, he's playing a game of chicken with an Opposition that has far more to lose than he has. This will only end up with either the Chinese capitulating or American companies relocating their supply chain to avoid the tariffs. Simples

And another top advisor said US would suffer a great deal more. It's US businesses who will have to pay this tariff, and it will be passed on to consumers. Meanwhile China will find other trade avenues; there's no shortage of interest.

With the Americans paying the tariffs imposed on China 😂

Deadline looms over US-China trade talksFresh talks are set to begin amid threats of new tariffs and warnings over the global economy. hope they sort something, markets look horrendous this week after a great run Funny that the Chinese report this far more positively than the BBC. What does that tell us about the narrative the BBC try to feed us? People, the BBC are more dangerous to freedom and democracy in the UK than fringe political movements: they are well-funded and very powerful.

Could this be doomsday as US-China trade war enters new phase?Trade talks between the world’s economic powerhouses is reminiscent of the cold war Chinese mentality will allow them to play the long game. They know that, following on from the average Joe no longer being able to afford a new iPad or washing machine, Trump's administration will be history and they can sit down with adults. Doomsday? Trump hopes so, he’s in need of rapture 😇 Thinking that this alternative doomsday scenario is a more likely outcome of Trump's tariff war....

Iran challenges Europe and China to stand up to US over nuclear dealIran is now giving them 60 days to take significant strides or face a potentially severe new crisis in the Middle East A very Pro-Iranian writer of this piece. Definitely he is anti-American, Israel, Saudi, etc., with the rhetoric he spouts. The world should realize that Trump is not a permanent president. And Should uphold the legit nuclear agreement that was made. It IS time for not only Europe and China, but also the United Nations to grow some teeth and effectively sanction the Trump regime.
