Donald Trump has increased tariffs on $200bn (£153bn) in Chinese imports - heightening tensions with Beijing.

The tariff hike came despite American and Chinese negotiators meeting for last-ditch talks in Washington on Thursday.Internet modems, furniture, lighting products, car parts, vacuum cleaners and building materials are all affected.

Some business leaders have warned that the escalation in the US-China trade war will hit consumers and small companies the hardest.Gary Shapiro, chief executive of the Consumer Technology Association, said:"Our industry supports more than 18 million US jobs but raising tariffs will be disastrous. "The tariffs already in place have cost the American technology sector about $1bn more a month since October. That can be life and death for small businesses and start-ups that can't absorb the added costs."

Donald Trump announces new sanctions against Iran amid nuclear tensionsIran has threatened to enrich its stockpile of uranium closer to weapons-grade levels in 60 days if 2015 deal remains the same. It's funny when I comment on Trump.. people tell me to keep my nose out of American Politics and worry about my own country.. FACT is.. when Trump withdraws from Iran deal and is proactive towards Iran to start war.. It affects the WORLD.. Impeach him or remove him Iran you must get nuclear weapons ASAP. It is the only deterrent that works in the world!!! If North Korea can so can you! Good. Iran never kept to it anyway and they continued to attack people in the middle east and fund terrorism. I feel so sorry for the Iranian people.

Deadline looms over US-China trade talksFresh talks are set to begin amid threats of new tariffs and warnings over the global economy. hope they sort something, markets look horrendous this week after a great run Funny that the Chinese report this far more positively than the BBC. What does that tell us about the narrative the BBC try to feed us? People, the BBC are more dangerous to freedom and democracy in the UK than fringe political movements: they are well-funded and very powerful.
