Colin was speaking live from his home country New Zealand and quickly explained that he believed that the 7.8KG vegetable on his lap was the largest potato in the world. Showing off the vegetable to viewers tuning in at home, Colin explained: “At first I thought it may have been a white sweet potato that we’d grown, and then I decided it couldn’t have been that because it was too big.” Colin, who has nicknamed the spud Doug, continued: “We ummed and ahed for a bit and then I said, ‘No, we’ve got to get it out of the ground.’” “So I got the big garden fork and like an angry viking, I thrust it into the ground and caught me a giant potato.” “The fork went in there and I had a bit of a scratch and a taste and I said to my wife, ‘Nah, it’s a potato, darling. It’s a potato.’” He added: “We just looked at each other and thought, ‘What?!’” Phil and Rochelle then broke into uncontrollable laughter, as they asked Colin further follow-up questions. One viewer wrote on Twitter: “This biggest potato feature on @thismorning has genuinely made my week.” A second added: “I really love having @thismorning on whilst I work, but my god I did not expect to see this MASSIVE potato on my screen.” Become an OK!
