THE Queen and the Duchess of Cornwall attended a service at Westminster Abbey today to celebrate the 750th anniversary of Britain's iconic church.
Although the Abbey was full to its 2,200 capacity, nearly a billion people worldwide tuned in to watch live coverage or news highlights of the wedding. In a royal charter dated 1246, Henry made clear he wanted to be buried alongside Edward the Confessor , to whom he was devoted. The 14th-century Litlyngton Missal, a service book made for the Abbey's high altar, was opened alongside it.
It has also been the setting for every cornoration since 1066, and for many other royal occasions, including 16 weddings.
