We’d like to like to hear from people who grew up around Notting Hill between the late 60s and the mid 80s. How has the area changed?

Notting Hill and the surrounding areas in West London is at the heart of Steve McQueen’s five part anthology series Small Axe. The series of five films, which takes its title from a proverb about collective struggle , features true stories from the late 60s to the mid 80s about London’s West Indian experience.

My goodness I wouldn’t want to live there!! Couldn’t believe all the tourists coming into front gardens to pose in front of front doors. Must be very annoying if you live there.

A bunch of ponces moved in, the property prices skyrocketed, and people who were part of it's history had to move away.

Shootings stabbings since labour opened up the doors with labour's bombs

This is such a interesting request. I wouldn’t really know how much it’s changed because I wasn’t born in the 60s and 70s but my mum has told me so much about the area and has it’s evolved over the years. The area has a interesting history

It was safe now it’s a dangerous cesspit

press can't seem to look at their own promotion of gentrification and racist forced relocation to destroy London communities

You moved in

I think there was a movie about it

It used to be safe. Well done Tony Blair

Julia Roberts and Hugh Grant.

It was shit and then shit

It hasn’t... it’s still expensive, elitist and busy

Still full of wankers I expect

Gentrification

Peak - Be surprised if they asked ‘how has Barnsley changed over the past 50 years? - not highbrow enough for them.

Ask the Trustafarian.

Was a Black community, property prices were devalued, they were offered more than the deflated prices, once houses were sold, property prices were hiked up, and made a white area (gentrification)

I know how my area in the North has changed and its not a positive one.....

It used to be full of ordinary, real people. Now it is full of rich tossers.

You have inserted the wrong video in this article about human rights complaints. Michael Gove is in this article talking about Brexit 🤣

👍🏾

Hugh Grant has moved!

Yes, it used to be a dump then some rich folks moved in & now it’s a dump again but with inflated house prices.

The rich moved in, the character moved out. Story of London

Too many BAME compared to 50 years back.

Is poncification complete now?

Before it was good now it’s shit
