‘FACT: not all women have periods, but ONLY women have periods'

A row has broken out over an inclusive tweet shared by tampon brand Tampax for ‘celebrating the diversity of all people who bleed’.

It credited the designer who created the accompanying graphic and added the hashtags #mythbusting, #periodtruths and #transisbeautiful. Many people thanked Tampax and praised it for being inclusive of trans and non-binary people, while others angrily criticised the tweet as an attempt to ‘erase’ and ‘dehumanise’ women.

A representative said: ‘It’s not always easy for people to stand up for trans lives which are currently so often presented as a debate, without their voices being heard.
