Straight actors are singled out for criticism when playing LGBT roles despite being “just the face of the project”, the actress Suranne Jones has said.

Dilemma: Either 1) have homosexual characters appear regularly in movies and TV shows, or 2) have homosexual characters only played by real homosexuals. It's statistically impossible to have both -- they'll have to choose one or the other.
In which case LGBT actors should not be cast in cis roles. I can imagine the uproar in LGBT circles if that happens. But discrimination against straight actors doesn't seem to be wrong.
So gay actors have never played straight people?
