A stunning 18th-century country house just an hour from Nottingham will open its gardens to the public next month. Hopton Hall is welcoming the public to its historic grounds and famous rose garden walk on selected days in July.
The site will be open from 10.30am to 4pm from Thursdays to Sundays in July only. The immersive event hopes to promote the benefits of nature and art, as the grounds are perfect for relaxation and full of natural beauty. Throughout the year Hopton Hall, located in Wirksworth, Derbyshire, is constantly changing, with the 2km visitor trail always reflecting the current season in the most beautiful way. There will also be an opportunity for artists of all abilities to take part in a competition, which will be inspired by the surroundings.
Whether you are an amateur or a professional, artists are invited to visit and create artwork within the grounds and can take inspiration from their surroundings, such as the rose gardens, beautiful vantage points or historic architecture. There will be no limitations on the medium or type of artwork that can be submitted.
It's a great chance to be creative and possibly win the £1,000 prize, and the winning piece will also be displayed permanently at one of the venues owned by the Hopton Hall Estate.
