Italian study finds smokers are 'FIVE TIMES less likely to end up in hospital'

Of 441 hospitalised COVID-19 patients in the study, 5% were active smokers. But rates are 24% in the Italian population, suggesting some sort of protection. However, more smokers succumbed to the disease - half of smokers compared to 35% of non-smokers.

Sad news RAPEYRAJAN

EATIN AMBER LEAF STRAIGHT OUT THE PACK AS WE SPEAK

I'm not a doctor or an analyst, but it's not unreasonable to suggest that smokers' bodies have had to develop a much stronger immune system to cope with the toxins and that could be why they are less likely to be hospitalised with COVID-19.

Riiiiiight...

Brilliant news 🚬

Time to rip some bong loads

Moral of the story is if you aren't smoking yet, get yourself a chimney.

Great, now watch. Trump will advise everyone to start smoking filterless Camels.

jojojoheeley That’s probably because there’s another reason - most Italians smoke!

Unbelievable 😳😳

Which tabbaco company funded that research? Anyone believing this garbage needs their head looked at!

The virus attaches itself to the smoke particals and dies.

Go watch the movie 'Millenium'. Classic take on smoking. And, a young Cheryl Ladd.

Me

Vaccine and cure discovered. 200 cigarette per day. 100 cigarette before noon and 100 before bed.

So now smoking is good for you?

Bullshit. Who made this Italian study?

Smokers don't live long enough. The average age of CoVid victims is 80.

derekhewson Two weeks ago a review of the literature by University College London also found a 'lower than expected' rate of smokers among COVID-19 patients.

These cigarettes companies are doing the most, even paying newspapers to mislead the people

Antipolluters Perhaps all the chemicals added to tobacco kills the virus. Maybe a suitable contender for a vaccine or cure.

Believe this at ur own risk

😮 WHAT

The theory that Italy had a high death rate due to the fact they greeted eachother more and smoked like chimneys has aged well then.

Ja ja ja who paid for this rubbish news, the tobacco companies?

Does that mean smoking in pubs will make a return? 😉

cjsnowdon!

The graveyard aint the hospital is it?
