The performer hails from a long line of dancers and carried on the family tradition when she was named world champion in 2013. Joanne also triumphed on Strictly Come Dancing when she lifted the Glitterball in 2016 alongside Ore Oduba.
However, Joanne's story serves as an inspiration to others as she has worked with her doctors to manage the condition and continue to have an incredible career in the world of performing. She said: "I've got osteoarthritis which is basically wear and tear, which is understandable from my dance training all my life. I've realised now it's something you can get at any age and it's not just old people.
Joanne quit Strictly after her Glitterball success and now enjoys a successful career in musical theatre. She is currently starring as Princess Fiona in the UK tour of Shrek The Musical, which arrives at the Liverpool Empire tomorrow . Joanne's family lives in Liverpool and she is looking forward to staying with them over the next week. The city also played an important part in her dancing journey as she regularly travelled from her home in Grimsby to Margaret Redmond's dance school in Liverpool to learn her trade.
