Iram's husband Rehan was on the phone to his wife and heard what was going on from the car park.
Rehan blames under-staffing and a lack of beds for his wife not being allowed to give birth in the labour ward."When I said I was going to complain, the midwives said, 'Yes, please do, it will help our situation. We are massively under-staffed'."Whipps Cross Hospital is now looking into the complaint.
In September new guidance was issued asking trusts to relax visiting restrictions so partners can attend maternity units for appointments and births.NHS England's chief midwifery officer wrote to all maternity units on 19 September, stating:"Now that the peak of the first wave has passed… guidance was issued on 8 September so that partners and visitors can attend maternity units.
But it seems the advice is being applied inconsistently - data compiled by The Guardian last month showed only 23% of trusts are allowing partners to attend the whole labour and half of women are having to attend scan appointments alone.Pregnant mothers struggle with pandemic rules
But I can go to work with 100+ households at companies who can't regulate social distancing properly - sure seems legit 👍
Where do these orders come from
What a joke! These couples really need to consider giving birth in a pub that sells a 'substantial' meal. At least their partners can be there then.
Absolutely stupid.
That’s a disgrace they should be allowed at any time !!
I was able to be there for the birth of our son (the staff were great) but was told to leave very shortly after he was born. Have not been allowed at a single appointment throughout the pregnancy (even when things had eased) and subsequent check ups post birth RoyalLondonHosp
This evil and cruelty beyond comprehension must be stopped enough is enough of this farce
VOTE BLUE.
Lucky I was allowed to be with my wife every minute including 4 hours on CTG, emergency caesarian and 2 days in ward. Even allowed to come and go to go home and sleep and bring food in. This was at MFTnhs Manchester
Insanity
It’s a national disgrace that Women have to go through pregnancy/ childbirth without their Husbands/ Partners at their sides.
Why am I paying into the NHS every week, if this is their attitude?
Is that a load of shite?
Yeah... There's a pandemic going on.
