SNP ministers have been urged to honour a commitment to spend any extra money from the UK Budget on tackling Scotland's housing emergency.
The extra money is classed as resource funding - but experts at the Fraser of Allander Institute have insisted SNP ministers could transfer the cash to their capital budget. Sally Thomas, chief executive of the Scottish Federation of Housing Associations , said: "From the moment the Scottish Budget was announced, we have been clear that the £196million cut from the Affordable Housing Supply Programme would have devastating consequences for tackling poverty and homelessness in Scotland.
An independent parliamentary analysis attributed £75m of the cut to a withdrawal of capital funding for councils and housing associations, a reduction of 27 per cent. Robison said last week: "We have a good track record on affordable housing. I think the latest was about 117,000 affordable homes delivered since 2007.
