The 13-year-old was one of two boys who got into difficulty in Ovingham on Saturday. His friend, 14-year-old David Radut, died at the scene in Ovingham.Both boys, who were friends, were from Newcastle.Northumbria Police have said their thoughts are with their families. Emergency and rescue services were called to the River Tyne at around 3.30pm on Saturday and a major search and rescue operation was carried out.
