The campaign was mostly fought on other grounds. Fiscally conservative sorts, Finns worry about government debt, which rose to 75% ofduring the pandemic. Rising defence spending will exacerbate that problem. Mr Orpo promised to bring the deficit down by cutting social spending; Ms Marin had promised to raise it.
Did she get the job as prime minister because she was a woman, because she was very attractive, because she was young? NIXON may have lost out to Kennedy because he wasn’t anywhere near as handsome as Kennedy. People who listened to them debate on the radio judged Nixon better.
